How to Measure Your Ring Size

Before using our calculator, you'll need to know your ring size in at least one system. Here are several methods to determine your ring size at home:

Measure an Existing Ring

Measuring with an existing ring

If you have a ring that fits well, measure its inside diameter or circumference:

  1. Place the ring on a ruler and measure the inside diameter in millimeters
  2. Or wrap a piece of string around the inside edge to find the inside circumference
  3. Enter the measurement in our calculator and select either "Diameter (mm)" or "Circumference (mm)"

String or Paper Strip Method

Measuring ring size with string

Measure your finger directly using string or a paper strip:

  1. Wrap a piece of string or paper strip around the base of your finger
  2. Mark where the string or paper overlaps or meets
  3. Measure the length from the end to the mark in millimeters
  4. Enter this measurement in our calculator and select "Circumference (mm)"

Tip: Measure your finger at the end of the day when it's at its largest size.

Tips for Accurate Ring Size Measurement

  • Measure your finger 3-4 times to ensure consistency
  • Avoid measuring when your hands are cold, as your fingers shrink in cold temperatures
  • Consider the width of the band - wider bands fit more snugly
  • If your knuckle is significantly larger than your finger base, measure both and choose a size in between
